The Madeira Botanical Gardens are a must-see for anyone visiting Madeira Island. It spans over 35,000 square meters and is located in the mountains of Madeira near Funchal. If you're not driving, take the 31 or 31A bus from central Funchal or - take an exhilarating ride on cable cars (Funchal-Monte-Botanical garden). The garden is open to the public during daylight hours, and there is a small admission fee.
